‘stgm’
Sic transit Gloria mundi (thus passes the glory of the world) STGM, was a collaborative installation with Scottish poet, Dorothy Alexander. It formed part of the Society of Scottish Artists Annual open exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy in 2012.
STGM is a loose acrostic featuring words relating to the glass lift shaft, collected from museum staff and various documents relating to the Playfair Project. The vinyl decals were attached to the outer glass panels of the main lift following the bannister line. When taking the stairs that surround the lift shaft it could be read in either direction.
